# What You Need

Here is everything you need before you start, depending on which solution you pick.

## For a DMA card (hardware)

* **Main PC** — your gaming PC, with a free PCIe slot (a x1, x4 or x16 slot all work).
* **DMA card** — from our [hardware page](/hardware/hardware-products.md). Ships pre-flashed.
* **2nd PC** — a laptop, mini PC or any second computer. It does not need to be fast.
* **USB cable** — usually included with the card.
* **KVM or second monitor (optional)** — to see the 2nd PC while gaming on the main PC.

## For XMA

* **Main PC** — nothing plugs into it, so no free slot is needed.
* **That's it.** Your motherboard does the job of the card. See [Welcome to XMA](/xma-setup/welcome-to-xma.md).

## For RDMA

* **Main PC** — must have a **Realtek RTL8125** network adapter. Not sure what yours has? Open a ticket and we will tell you.
* **2nd PC** — the computer you already have.
* **Both PCs on the same network** — router or switch. See [RDMA Requirements](/rdma-setup/rdma-requirements.md).

## For all solutions

* **Windows on the main PC** — with a normal user account you know the password to.
* **A Discord account** — for your ticket and setup help.

## What you do NOT need

* Nothing to flash — hardware ships pre-flashed.
* Nothing installed on the main PC for the card itself.
* No technical knowledge — the guides walk you through every step, and a real person helps on Discord when you need it.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://guides.privatesolution.org/start-here/what-you-need.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
